A bit of premier league statistics
Every year there are voices about uneven treatment of teams by referees. So I decided to track them a bit this season. So far it's too early to discover any bias from particular referees since they have generally only refereed 1 match to a team which is not good to establish a trend.
E.g. I did a little research into last three seasons and saw that Howard Webb, frequently dubbed as a Manchester United referee, is probably more of a Liverpool referee. He has only shown 1,5 cards to Liverpool pr. match, a lot more to their opponents. Also interesting that in the last 3 seasons he has been the referee in 4 of Liverpools matches against Manchester United and 4 of their matches against Arsenal.
But like I said, that's not what I'm gonna do now. This time around I will only produce these numers for August 2010:
